About us

We are the world's leading brand in the sale of Chorizo from La Rioja, one of the first Spanish meat products imported to the United States. The history of our brand dates back to 1960 when couple formed by Dolores García and Jaime Palacios opened a family butcher's shop in Albelda de Iregua, La Rioja (Spain), from which Grupo Palacios would be born.

Origins of Chorizo from La Rioja

La Rioja is a small Spanish autonomous community with an entrepreneurial spirit and a great Chorizo-making tradition and culture. Chorizo was produced using artisan methods in the attics of the houses, where the air from the mountains gently blew over this delicious delicacy generating the perfect conditions for drying, resulting in a 100% traditional product with a purely Riojan flavor.

With the arrival of industrial development at the end of the 19th century, processing industries began to proliferate in La Rioja, helping to spread Chorizo from La Rioja to the rest of Spain and further afield. Several of them even exhibited their Chorizos at the 1878 Paris Exhibition.

Years later, some of these processing companies also became exporters. This is the case of 'Conservas Trevijano', 'Armas y Cía.', which in 1928 was already exporting its Chorizo from La Rioja to New York. Paradoxically, this processing plant was located in Albelda de Iregua, the same municipality in which the world's leading string Chorizo-producing company, Grupo Palacios, is located.

Apuesta por la expansión

Commitment to expansion

As we have mentioned, Grupo Palacios originated in a family butcher's shop in Albelda de Iregua, where the Palacios couple dispensed artisan Chorizo to their neighbors. However, in 1983 they wanted to expand their business and with the help of their children they opened a 43,000 square foot factory dedicated exclusively to the production of string Chorizo.

Right from the start, the company has stood out for the production of 100% natural Chorizo, and has continued to grow and diversify over the years. Thus, in 1998 it became the first Spanish company authorized by the United States to sell meat products in the country. In addition, the purchase of Elore Enterprises in 2016, allowed it to establish its own manufacturing plant and sales office in Miami.

As a result of this, Grupo Palacios has positioned itself as a relevant player in the country’s specialized food sector with a complete offer, which, in addition to several kinds of chorizo, also includes other gourmet Spanish products, such as Spanish omelets, Serrano ham and cheese.

Palacios products in the United States offer an exquisite selection of authentic Spanish flavors. From delicious Spanish omelet to tasty Serrano ham and delicious cheese, each product is a journey through Spain's rich gastronomic tradition. The precise artisan process and meticulous selection of natural ingredients guarantee an incomparable culinary experience, designed to satisfy the most demanding palates and captivate lovers of good food.
